BLOGMAS 2021, Day One

BLOGMAS is a celebration of Christmas in the blogging world. I saw the lead up posts to this blog-holiday on my younger blogging friends’ posts as early as seven days before December 1st, describing preparations, goals and hopes for Blogmas this year. Their enthusiasm is contagious, and I am now fully invested in the idea. The earliest Blogmas celebrations required posting every day, all 25 days. This year the blogging young ladies qualified their efforts by posting two times a week or every other day. I am going to post something Christmassy every single day, even if it is short or just a meme or photograph. I’ve had no time to “prepare” as my young friends have been doing, for I have gathered all their Blogmas posts in a folder and just started looking at it this evening. But it sounds like so much fun!

Let’s not forget what our hearts are meant to be focused on this season. I hope to share this focus on some of my Blogmas posts as well.

Mostly, my posts will be sharing Christmas photos and memes. Others may be reviews of Christmas-themed books or wishlists or guest posts from surprise visitors. Stay tuned. I KNOW I am going to have fun; I hope you will too.

I’ll write; you read, and we’ll celebrate BLOGMAS together.

This year (2019) finds me with 50 years of teaching "under my belt." I have taught all levels from pre-K "(library lady" or "book lady"--volunteer) to juniors, seniors, and graduate students enrolled in my Advanced Writing class at the university where I have just completed 30 years. My first paying teaching job was junior high, and I spent 13 years with ages 12-13, the "difficult years." I had some of the "funnest" experiences with this age group. When I was no longer the "young, fun teacher," I taught in an elementary school setting before sixth graders went on to junior high, teaching language arts blocs, an assignment that was a "dream-fit" for me. After completing graduate school in my 40s, I went on to community college, then university teaching. Just as teaching is "in my blood," so is a passion for reading, writing, libraries, and everything bookish. This blog will be open to anyone who loves books, promotes literacy and wants to "come out and play."
